Student Intern in Finance & Accounting (m/f/d)
Employment Status: Working Student (15–20 hours per week)
Your Mission
You’ll support our growing finance team in its day-to-day operations and, together with the finance specialists, ensure that incoming invoices, master data, and documents are processed reliably, accurately, and efficiently. In this role, you’ll take on clearly defined tasks in financial accounting, gain practical insights into key accounting processes, and help ensure that our small team remains effective even as the volume of documents increases.
Your Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (Major)
- Entry and preliminary account assignment of incoming invoices in the ERP system according to specified posting rules
- Verification of incoming invoices for formal accuracy, e.g., required information, VAT, and recipient
- Forwarding Invoices in the Digital Approval Workflow and Tracking Pending Approvals
- Maintenance and Filing of Documents in Digital Document Management Systems
Master Data & Administration
- Creation and maintenance of vendor master data in the ERP system, such as vendor records, bank account information, and payment terms, under the guidance of the Finance Specialist
- Support for the archiving and digitization of records and documents
- Maintenance and Filing of Documents in Digital Document Management Systems
Account Reconciliation (Support)
- Assisting with the reconciliation of open items in accounts payable
- Assistance in resolving disputes and addressing inquiries with suppliers, in writing and based on documentation
General Support
- Assistance in preparing documents for tax advisors or certified public accountants
- Support with month-end closing tasks, such as verifying that all documents are complete, checklists, and documentation

What you will need
Professional Experience
- You are currently studying business administration, accounting, business informatics, or a similar field of study
- Initial practical experience gained through internships or part-time jobs in the business field is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB), ideally supplemented by a basic understanding of IFRS
- You already have a basic understanding of source documents, accounts, and journal entries
- Experience handling incoming invoices and formal invoicing requirements is a plus, but not required
Technical Skills
- Proficient Use of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
- Some experience with an ERP system is helpful, but not required
- You enjoy working with digital tools and structured data management
Personal
- A high degree of care and accuracy, especially when entering documents
- A reliable and structured approach to work, even when performing repetitive tasks
- A willingness to learn and an interest in finance and accounting
- Team-oriented and easy collaboration within our small finance team
- Discretion in Handling Internal Financial Data
Required language skills
- German: Excellent written and spoken proficiency
- English: Good to very good written and spoken proficiency
Framework & Collaboration
- Start: as soon as possible
- Hours: 15 to 20 hours per week
- Location: hybrid / in person in Berlin
- Work schedule: flexible, in coordination with the team and your course of study
